Following a last minute change of plans, the power unit lift on 50007 will now take place at Kidderminster TMD. The loco requires the power unit to be removed so that the Main Generator can be sent away for overhaul prior to use on the mainline. At the same time the opportunity will be taken to remove the ETH/Aux generators and carry out the same insulation modification as we did on the rest of the C50A fleet a couple of years ago. Whilst all that is going on, our volunteers will use the down time to give the inside of 50007 a thorough clean and inspection.

The ability to carry out this level of work at short notice is an indication of just how invaluable the new Diesel Depot is proving to be. Such work would have previously taken many months of planning, and we are indebted to the SVR for agreeing to accept the loco whilst this work is carried out.

Do please remember that the TMD facility is a working depot and a very hazardous environment. It is not open to the public other than for special events. Please do not attempt to visit the depot without prior authorisation to see C50A locos or any of the others based on the site.





We are delighted to announce that we have accepted an invitation to take two of our loco's to this years Bluebell Railway Diesel Gala. The event runs from Friday 31st March to Sunday 2nd April, and this will be the first visit of the class to the railway. Loco's attending should be 50035 and 50049, subject to the usual caveats regarding availability.

We are now so close to having '44 running again after so long out of traffic, but we really do need one last push to raise some funds for the last few bits. 

When we bought the loco, we paid the princely sum of £5044 (plus vat) for it! That won't even buy you a quality paint job on a 50 nowadays, but if we can raise that amount again we will be well on the way to having the loco running again (which, dare we say it, would give us all 5 loco's available for traffic).

Mainline Tours in 2018

Thankyou to everyone that supported the two mainline tours last year. We have the following dates booked for this year:

Severn Valley 50th Anniversary Class 50 Gala - October 4-5-6th 2018

Three days of class 50 action with visiting loco's and the home fleet. The aim is to have ten working Class 50's. See you there!


We have also been asked to supply locos for the West Somerset Diesel Gala (8/9/10th June) and Keighley & Worth Valley Diesel Gala (30th June/1st July). It is likely to be 50035 Ark Royal that attends both of these events, but that is of course subject to change.
